Roll over: This is an elegant and immensely pleasurable vintage.
"Our old vines are over 35 years old and produce an exceptionally intense and aromatic wine that reflects the unique character of its terroir. With its deep, clear ruby red hue, it reveals notes of black fruits and excellent strength and concentration. As with all Gevrey-Chambertin, it requires a few years of patience before reaching its full potential." - Domaine Faiveley
Roll over Bodega Catena Zapata is one of the foremost wine estates in Mendoza
The juicy and peachy 2020 Malbec Catena Zapata Nicasia Vineyard in Paraje Altamira is the result of a warm year in a warmish place, but the wine shows no excess and comes through as balanced, slightly riper and rounder than the 2019 I tasted next to it but keeping the poise and elegance. It has a medium to full-bodied palate with juicy and abundant tannins. 20,004 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2021. RP96 The Wine Advocate
Roll over: Mid cherry red. Scented with red fruits and very slightly stemmy. A touch of vanilla sweetness too. Jancis Robinson.com

"The nose is elegant, and racy and offers a certain power. It reveals notes of boysenberry, violet, and more slightly – notes of bright wild berries associated with touches of smoke, pepper, bright black plum as well as hints of spice, camphor and a subtle almost saline note. The palate is fruity and offers juiciness, minerality, a tangy frame, a nice freshness, subtlety, a certain straightness (all in elegance), harmony, finesse, tension as well as a nice delicate touch on the palate. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/creamy blackberry, juicy/tangy blackcurrant, and more slightly – notes of pulpy raspberry associated with touches of cornflower, violet, juicy/tangy cherry as well as slight hints of small tangy/bright blue fruits, vanilla, toast and nutmeg. The tannins are soft and elegant. Good length." - 93/100, VertdeVin
Roll over: Rich and Intense.
Deep ruby. Pungent red and blue fruit and floral scents are complemented by suggestions of succulent herbs and white pepper. Lively, penetrating and appealingly sweet, showing good depth as well as detail to the black raspberry, cherry and floral pastille flavors. Finishes long and smoky, with supple tannins coming in late. Vinous
Roll over: This carefully cellared reserve wine is only released a minimum of five years after harvest.
Prophet’s Rock know that great wines begin in the vineyard. That’s why they embrace an approach to winemaking that shares the splendour of the place rather than pronounced winemaking characteristics. The result Iconic wines that invoke Central Otago’s striking, unforgettable beauty.

Few red wines can rival grand Argentinian Malbec for drama and grandeur, and this version from the Altamira zone of La Consulta (in the Uco Valley) stood out even amongst its dramatic, strikingly profiled peers. It is jet black, just shot with purple at the rim. Soaringly expressive Malbec rose and tea leaf lifts from the glass with enviable purity, without a trace of distorting oak. In the mouth, it is deep and long: an arrow of fruit yet elegant, deftly textured with a snow of fine tannins, and devoid of alcoholic heat or intrusive, strenuous acidity. A sumptuous, haute-couture Malbec where the vineyard’s untrammeled fruit and inner radiance has been given voice. Decanter
Roll over: Described by Nicholas Bryant (National Business Review) as "the best red wines produced in this country."
Fine "old world" wine of first growth quality from a single vineyard planted in the 1970s at Matakana, Northland, New Zealand. The Antipodean -- "New Zealand's Lafite" -- is a blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and malbec, with harmony, fragrance, length and seamless integration of character.

Roll over: Chanson Pere & Fils en Bourgogne (Domaine Chanson) is a wine producer and négociant based in the central Burgundian town of Beaune
Moderate wood frames fresh and ripe aromas of plum, black raspberry, pretty floral and just turned earth. The delicious and impressively intense middle weight flavors possess a really lovely mouthfeel if not quite the same power on the harmonious, firm and built-to-age finish where the only nit is a touch of warmth. Promising. 91-93 Burghound
Roll over: Old vine Argentinian Malbec
The very young but already harmonious 2021 Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino has one of the showier labels from the Catena portfolio. 2021 was a cooler year, as cold as 2016, but instead of a wet year like 2016, it was dry. The wine is juicy and reveals a vibrant palate and very clean and focused aromas and flavors. It's clean and precise with varietal aromas of violets, ripe berries and herbs and a spicy touch from the élevage in oak. It's another great vintage for this blend of grapes from the vineyards of Angélica (Lunlunta) and Nicasia (Altamira). It's nicely textured and tasty, medium to full-bodied and with a vibrant finish. 60,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2022. RP96 Robert Parker.com

Roll over: Bold and structured
Polished and stylish, with a velvety feel to the waves of plum, blackberry and black cherry fruit that glide through, carried by well-embedded notes of loam, ganache and tobacco. Solidly built, showing ample grip for the cellar, but seamlessly integrated, with the fruit holding the upper hand through the finish. Best from 2022 through 2037. 140 cases made.
