Bold dark cherry compote flavors are liberally laced with violet, savory and singed anise notes. Features a nice flash of warm earth through the finish. Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre.

In an amazing example of vinous lineage, the Chave family has been growing grapes on the hill of Hermitage since 1481. Today the estate is run by Gerard Chave and his son Jean-Louis and they produce some of the regions finest wines including a red & white Hermitage, a St-Joseph and a Côtes du Rhône Mon Coeur. Superb vineyard holdings including prime slices of Bessards, L'Hermite, Peleat and Meal in Hermitage, and incredibly high standards in both the vineyard and cellar, the wines are made in a very hands-off fashion and show great detail, nuance and regional typicity.

Wonderfully weighted elegant wine with sweet fresh cherry and licorice notes combined with subtle oak, hints of spicy fine grained tannin, a velvet mouthfeel and lengthy finish.

The Georges Road estate is located in the Waipara Valley, just 45 minutes north of Christchurch. It is situated at the western end of the valley, on two terraces above the Waipara River with magic views to the Three Deans mountain range beyond. The soil type is called Glasnevin Gravels, essentially poor, free-draining river gravels. The vineyard is approximately 60m higher than the main highway which reduces its susceptibility to frost when cold air drains down the valley from the Waipara Gorge to the west.

At the very heart of this wine is the Bostock’s love of Hawke’s Bay and one special piece of land at their home at Ngatarawa. Long owned by Johnny and his wife, the late Vicki Bostock, it was Vicki’s passion that provided the inspiration for this wine.
